In a weeklong crackdown, the Bangladesh Army, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, arrested 249 criminals across the country.

The detainees include listed criminals, extortionists, individuals with multiple cases, robbery gang members, muggers, kidnappers, fraud syndicate members, adulterated food producers, teenage gang members, and drug traffickers, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release tonight.

The operations were conducted between March 13 and March 19.

During these raids, security forces recovered six illegal firearms, 102 rounds of ammunition, crude bombs, drugs, locally made weapons, passports, foreign currency, national ID cards, stolen mobile phones, tablets, laptops, SIM cards, and cash.

The arrested individuals were handed over to local police stations for further legal proceedings and interrogation.

Additionally, army personnel intervened in different parts of the country to mitigate worker unrest over wages and bonuses in garment factories, reads the ISPR release.
