Rakib steers Partex to last-ball win over Agrani

Mohammad Rakib's unbeaten 80 off 103 balls powered Partex Sporting Club to a thrilling one-wicket victory over Agrani Bank Cricket Club in a last-ball finish in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2024–25 in Mirpur on Saturday.
Chasing a below-par target of 219 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Partex were on course to complete their second win in seven matches after they reached 203 for five in the 46th over.
However, Agrani off-spinner Nayeem Hasan then took two wickets within three deliveries, while two of the Partex tail-enders were dismissed through run-outs, reducing them to 209 for nine, bringing late excitement to the contest.
Needing 10 runs to win in the last over, Rakib smashed left-arm spinner Taibur Rahman for two boundaries in the first four deliveries, although he received a lucky reprieve on the third ball when Nayeem dropped him at long-on.

Partex's last batting pair then took two cheeky singles in the final two deliveries to hand the tournament's surprise package, Agrani Bank, a shocking defeat -- their second loss in seven rounds.
Earlier, Marshall Ayub struck 64 off 87 balls, but none of the other batters could contribute much as Agrani were bowled out for 218 in 50 overs after being asked to bat first. Naeem Islam Jnr was the pick of the bowlers for Partex, finishing with three wickets for 41 runs.
Meanwhile, today's other two games -- Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club versus Brothers Union and Gulshan Cricket Club versus Legends of Rupganj -- at the BKSP venues could not take place due to rain and bad light.
