High-flying Barca host struggling Dortmund

Even though Borussia Dortmund are enduring another disappointing domestic season, struggling at eighth in the Bundesliga standings, their Champions League quarterfinal first-leg against Barcelona on Thursday night still makes up for an enthralling contest. Dortmund, the runners-up of the last edition, will be visiting Barca, who are on top of LaLiga points table, and will be hoping to take inspiration from last year's incredible European run to down Hansi Flick's in-form Barcelona. Meanwhile, the other fixture on the night features a high-flying Paris Saint-Germain, who have already been confirmed as Ligue 1 champions and are looking to land the elusive Champions League in their trophy cabinet, and Aston Villa. Villa's European run this season has been impressive -- they had qualified directly in the Champions League last 16 -- and Unai Emery's side will hope to make their campaign in Europe momentous with a win away to PSG.
** Barcelona are unbeaten in their five meetings with Borussia Dortmund in European competition (W3 D2).
** Barca coach Hansi Flick has won all six of his meetings with Dortmund across all competitions during spells with Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
** Barcelona have scored 32 Champions League goals this season, their most in a season since 2011-12 (35).
** In 28 games in the Champions League with Bayern and Barcelona, Flick has seen his teams score 89 goals, an average of 3.2 goals per game, which is the best of any manager in the competition's history to take charge of at least one game.
** Meanwhile, this is set to be the first meeting in European competition between PSG and Aston Villa.
** Aston Villa's Unai Emery has won just two of his 10 games against PSG's Luis Enrique as a manager (D1 L7), with both wins coming in home fixtures.
** PSG have won 21 of their 23 games and scored 73 goals in 2025 (all competitions). They have the most wins and goals of any team from Europe's top five leagues this calendar year.
** Villa have never won away to a French opponent in European competition (P5 D2 L3).
