SRK makes memorable Met Gala debut in Sabyasachi

Shah Rukh Khan made a highly awaited debut at the Met Gala 2025, sending fans into a frenzy as the iconic "King Khan" graced the event. The renowned actor made history as the first Indian male actor to walk the Met Gala red carpet.

In line with this year's theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, Shah Rukh appeared on the carpet in an elegant, all-black ensemble designed by the celebrated designer and fashion icon Sabyasachi. With his unmistakable charm, he effortlessly captured everyone's attention.

Before heading to the Met, Shah Rukh was met with a sea of admirers outside his New York hotel. Amid flashing cameras and cheers, he took time to warmly greet members of the international press, introducing himself simply with, "I am Shah Rukh."

At 59, Shah Rukh's debut at the Metropolitan Museum of Art had an unexpected motivation. With a smile, he shared, "My little kids were really excited about the Met. I might not have come otherwise, but when Sabya suggested it, they were thrilled. I'm still not sure if that 'wow' meant 'you got invited' or 'you're actually going to pull it off.'"

Not one for overanalysing fashion, Shah Rukh kept things simple. Sabyasachi joked to the New York Times, "He just said, 'No shoulder pads that make me look like an airplane.'" The designer noted SRK's preference for understated style, which they honoured. Shah Rukh added, "I told Sabya I only wear black and white. What he created is exactly what makes me feel comfortable — and that's how it should be."

While most prepare meticulously for the Met Gala, SRK's appearance felt refreshingly spontaneous, driven more by his kids' excitement than a desire for style recognition. His humility stood out more than any fashion statement. Laughing about the gold details, he remarked, "It's a bit rapper," and even joked, "This might be my last Met Gala." That sincerity made his debut all the more unforgettable.
Shah Rukh exuded regal charm in a long, maharaja-inspired coat made from fine Tasmanian wool. Merging traditional artistry with luxury, the piece radiated timeless elegance. Structured shoulders and wide lapel collars added a functional edge, while bold black buttons brought attention to the garment's commanding presence.
