Stocks rebound in morning trade

The Dhaka Stock Exchange indices bounced back today from the massive fall triggered by rising tensions between India and Pakistan that led to heavy sell-offs.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, gained 72.69 points, or 1.51 percent, to reach 4,875.11 as of 11:22 am.

The Shariah-compliant DSES index rose 1.96 percent to 1,068.56, while the DS30, which tracks blue-chip stocks, went up by 1.15 percent to 1,814.14.

Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, stood at Tk 111.27 crore during the session.

Of the 395 issues traded, 361 advanced, 13 declined, and 15 remained unchanged.

Shares of Baraka Patenga Power posted the highest gain, rising more than 9 percent, while Fareast Finance & Investment suffered the steepest loss, falling 6 percent.
