Indian Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down a Bangladeshi near the Khalisha Kotal border at Phulbari upazila of Kurigram early today.

The deceased was identified as Shyamal Chandra, 32, a local cattle trader, reports our Kurigram correspondent quoting Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 45th battalion Commander Lt Col Zakir Hossain.

"Shyamal and his associates were fired upon near the Khalisha Kotal border. He later succumbed to his injuries," he said. "The body has been handed over to Phulbari police."

Two others, Manik Roy and Badal Chandra, were also shot, alleged Nawdanga Union Parishad Chairman Mobeshar Ali.

The BGB has already sent a protest letter to BSF in this regard, Lt Col Zakir said.
