6 bodies recovered from sunken trawler in Shitalakkhya
Rescuers recovered six bodies from a sunken sand-laden trawler which capsized after colliding with another trawler in Shitalakkhya of Narayanganj on Wednesday evening.
All the deceased are male aged between 18 to 45 years hailing from Ullahpara of Sirajganj and labourers of the trawler, Dinomoni Sharma, deputy assistant director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence told The Daily Star tonight.
Divers of the fire service recovered the six bodies from inside the sunken trawler after conducting a search operation from 2:30pm to 9:00pm, Sharma said.
The trawler capsized with 28 people onboard as it collided with another trawler around 12:30pm in the river at Dighir Char Ghat in the Sadar upazila, the fire service official said.
22 of them managed to swim ashore but the six people were missing after the collision, he added.
