“Golapi Akhon Train-e”
“Golapi Akhon Train-e” (1978) was a brilliant film made by Amjad Hossain on the oppressed have-nots of rural Bangladesh.
It enjoyed phenomenal success at the cinemas, and backed by the acting of Rowshan Jamil, Bobita and Anowara also brought to attention the issue of inequitable treatment of women.
The film won 11 National Awards, which was a record until broken this year (for 2013) by “Mrittika Maya”.
