Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said today the government would arrest BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia if she does not surrender before the court.

“Khaleda Zia is not fit to sit across the table for a dialogue rather she is eligible to stay in Kashimpur jail,” the minister said in a press briefing at the Secretariat today.

Inu claimed that there was no electoral crisis in the country and said the government will take all necessary steps to protect people’s lives and properties.

Now the BNP chief is fuelling anarchy and terrorism in the country to bring an irregular government to power, he blamed.

Inu also lambasted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for her claim on Friday that the 15th amendment to the constitution has been brought unilaterally.

In light of the apex court verdict, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had formed an all-party committee to amend the constitution but BNP chief Khaleda Zia did not take part in the process, he added.

The minister said the 15th amendment to the constitution has been brought after a 10-month effort of the all-party committee where representatives from different registered political parties, constitution specialists, media and cultural personalities and representative from different professions took part in the process except Khaleda Zia, he said.

“So Khaleda Zia’s claim is nothing but a lie,” Inu said.
