Unidentified criminals shot a sand trader to death and injured another at Jamaidharani in Moheshkhali upazila of the district early yesterday.

The deceased, Mizanur Rahman, 30, son of late Mohammad Hossain, was a resident of Lohagara upazila of Chittagong district.

Ferdous Didar, inspector (investigation) of Moheshkhali Police Station, said Mizanur along with two others was travelling on a truck from Shaplapur area to the upazila headquarters around 12:30pm.

At Jamaidharani, a gang opened several gunshots targeting the truck, leaving Mizanur and Nurul Haq, 32, bullet-hit. Mizanur died on the spot.
