A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was hacked to death by criminals at Dangi village in Goalundo upazila of Rajbari district yesterday. 

The deceased is Sharifuzzaman Palash, former general secretary of Ujanchar union unit of BCL, and a resident of Sardarpara area in the upazila town.

Nasir Ullah, officer-in-charge of Goalundo Ghat Police Station, said a gang attacked Palash while he came out of his house at around 11:00am. The gang hit him with sharp weapons and left the scene.

Critically injured Palash succumbed to his injuries on the way to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.  

Palash hacked one Dildar Ali of the same village following a feud over previous enmity nine months ago, said the OC.

He might have been killed as a sequel to that incident, the OC said, adding that they are trying to unearth clue to the murder.
