He entered the world of television drama around 1999, for “Bholar Diary” by Shaer Khan Kallol – that became highly popular and he came to be widely known as “Bhola”. In an interview with The Daily Star, the seasoned actor spoke about his current works, and more.
“I am doing a number of TV plays at the moment. To take on different persona in different places is always a challenge: Currently for one shoot, I play the role of a humble man of principles. There is another drama, 'Mega City Vagabond', where I play a character that comes from Sylhet to marry a city girl. In the drama, 'Lake Drive lane,' I play a university teacher. I go to teach at a house, were the elder sister of my student falls in love with me,” says the actor on his recent works.
“I feel that I am being multiple people, at multiple places. And this is why I love acting. It makes me feel, how those individuals can be in reality.”
“I have been given many compliments and maybe as many negative remarks throughout my career. It is important to accept them equally if you are a part of the media. Once I got accolades and criticism for the same role – that of an old man. Doing the part of a character much older than you is a challenge. While some people appreciated that I could pull it off, others questioned why I was playing the character in the first place. I did it because it was a challenge,” says Khadem as to how he reacts to criticism.
