Rare works of top artists to be exhibited at Galleri Kaya
It's not often that one gets to see a commercial art exhibition of works by almost all the who's who of the country's art scenario. Galleri Kaya, which is turning 11 years old on May 28, is set to showcase a rare collection of art by most of the great modern artists of the country.
The show scheduled to start from June 5 and end on June 26 will have works of 23 artists like Zainul Abedin, Devdas Chakraborty, Rashid Chowdhury, Qamrul Hassan, Aminul Islam, Qayyum Choudhury, Monirul Islam, Murtaja Baseer, Nitun Kundu, Rafiqun Nabi, Hamiduzzaman Khan and SM Sultan.
Other artists include- Hashem Khan, Kalidas Karmakar, Ranjit Das, Chandra Shekhar Dey, Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Shahabuddin Ahmed, Shishir Bhattacharjee, Tarun Ghosh, Dipa Haq, Ratan Majumder and Shambhu Acharya.
This means that a good part of the artworks would come with a high-end price tag.
"This is an exhibition that should be seen by all art lovers, even if they cannot afford to buy the gems and also a must for art collectors," he adds.
"This collection has works of some artists which are rarely transacted," says Goutam Chakraborty of Galleri Kaya, "For instance the works of Rashid Chowdhury are extremely rare. Similarly you won't find many people selling works of Devdas Chakraborty, Nitun Kundu or Zainul Abedin."
There will be five works from Rashid, Devdas, Nitun or Zainul. According to Goutam, the work of Rashid was brought in from Pakistan in recent years.
Galleri Kaya has organised this show with works from its own collection plus from other private collectors. "The names of the collectors will be disclosed to the buyers and not before that," says Goutam, who is very excited about the show, "Galleri Kaya will provide the certificate of provenance for artworks of its collection while the private collectors will issue their provenance."
Galleri Kaya is located in Sector 4, Uttara.
