The Grand Finale

Umme Kulsum, the doctor-turned chef, sprints towards the finish line to be crowned the best in the country.

After 14 gruelling rounds, having faced all kinds of difficulties imaginable, now we stand with two participants remaining. The Doctor, Umme Kulsum, faces off against The Motherly Figure, Jebunessa Khan. Both of these participants have demonstrated enough culinary abilities to consider themselves as Super Chefs in their own rights. However, the title and crown remains reserved for one of them. Tonight, at stake will be the 10 lac taka prize money, the Super Chef crown and of course the bragging rights that come with being the best Chef in all of Bangladesh.

Chef Fredric, the famous French Chef you were introduced to last week, will be present for the finals. Although he has already said that he wishes to not judge the participants final meal, he will be tasting a few of the dishes. This week, the participants will have to prepare a full course meal, consisting of an appetiser, an entrée, the main course and dessert. Every element of the full course dinner has to complement each other. Thus, the participants will first have to settle on the cuisine. Then they will have to find the ingredients and see if they have everything they need. In the mean time, the clock will be winding down. After each dish is prepared, it will be presented to the judges. The judges will mark each dish separately and finally tally it up for the total points.

The final can thus be considered a boxing match of sorts, of five rounds. The title challengers will have to base decisions on the judge's reaction and comments to their dish. And hence ideas will be made and discarded, with the winner needing the ability to adapt to any changes. Whoever the winner is will also have a good idea about the kind of cuisines she can work with. A shot in the dark will result in elimination. The participants, having been in the Super Chef kitchen for so long, have all already shown signs of fatigue. Being apart from their families for so long will also have taken on toll on their mental state. For the finals, each participant will invite a few members of their family for support. Whether that will add to the pressure or whether it will help remains to be seen.

For now, we can only wait. Indeed, the Super Chef is here. And when the Super Chef is announced, everyone will remember where they were when it happened.
