Emirates restores full operation in Bangladesh

Emirates has fully restored its operations in Bangladesh, said Mohamed Alhammadi, Emirates' country manager to Bangladesh today.

"Now the airlines is serving the country with the pre-pandemic frequency and capacity," he said while exchanging views with the media at a city hotel organised to celebrate Emirates 35 years of connecting Bangladesh to the world.

Emirates, one of the world's leading airlines, celebrated 35 years of its operation in Bangladesh today.

Since 1986, the airline has carried more than 10.4 million passengers to and from Dhaka, operating over 19,300 roundtrip flights, said Mohamed Alhammadi, Emirates country manager in Bangladesh.

The airline based in Dubai, UAE, currently operates three weekly flights in Dhaka, utilising its wide-body Boeing 777-300ER.

To celebrate the special occasion, Emirates undertook various programmes, including cutting a cake at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, water cannon salute to an Emirates flight (EK 587) arriving in Dhaka, onboard announcement wishing the passengers on the occasion, quiz competition on social media and interaction of the country manager with media representatives.

"We're thrilled to be marking 35 years of operations in Bangladesh. It's been a remarkable journey and we thank our dedicated staff, customers, and local authorities for their ongoing support," said Alhammadi.

"We look forward to continue strengthening our long-standing partnership with the country and to flying our Bangladeshi customers safer and better on Emirates to Dubai and beyond," he added.

Emirates is currently the only international airline operating in Dhaka with first-class services for passengers -- providing connectivity to more than 120 destinations via Dubai.

From 2016 to date, Emirates SkyCargo -- the airline's freight division -- has carried close to 170,000 tonnes of cargo to and from the country, including the main export commodities of garments, leather and perishables.
