116 Bangladeshis return from Libya

A total of 116 Bangladeshis yesterday returned home in a chartered flight from Libya.

Of them, 84 had been in a detention centre for about a year, after being nabbed by law enforcers on charges of entering the country illegally, said Gazi Md Asaduzzaman Kabir, labour welfare counsellor at the Bangladesh embassy in Libya.

They tried to cross the Mediterranean illegally to reach Europe, Kabir said.
