Bangladeshi IT professionals to be recruited to Australia, deal signed

An Australian company has signed a deal to recruit IT professionals from Bangladesh.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bangladesh's state-owned recruiting agency – Bangladesh Overseas Employment Services Ltd (BOESL) and Australian company Sterning yesterday..

BOESL Managing Director Billal Hossain and Sterning Operation Director Paul Egan signed the deal during a virtual programme.

Under the MoU that will be effective for three years, Sterning will arrange jobs for Bangladeshis in the IT sector for its client companies in Australia, the Bangladesh Embassy in Canberra said in a statement today.

At Bangladesh end, BOESL will arrange the supply of IT professionals.

BOESL Executive Manager Mahabubur Rahman, Bangladesh Consul General in Sydney, Khandker Masudul Alam, Bangladesh Embassy in Canberra's Counsellor (Labour) Md Salahuddin, Sterning Founder and CEO Joseph Merz were present during the event yesterday.

"The new MoU has opened the gate of Australia for Bangladeshi IT professionals," said BOESL MD Billal Hossain.

"Through this, we have only initiated arranging jobs for the IT sector. We are contacting more companies so Bangladeshis in other sectors can also get jobs in Australia," he added.

Sterning CEO Joseph Merz said Australia has a huge shortage of IT professionals and Bangladesh can help meet up the demand.
