Scarborough Folk Fest 2023: A celebration of diversity, culture, and community

This festival promises a one-of-a-kind community experience, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds under one harmonious celebration of folk music.

Scarborough, known for its vibrant multiculturalism, is all set to host the much-awaited Scarborough Folk Fest 2023 (SFF 2023) at Thomson Memorial Park in Toronto, Canada. The festival will be held on July 29 and July 30 from 3pm to 10pm.

This festival promises a one-of-a-kind community experience, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds under one harmonious celebration of folk music.

The festival's grand opening ceremony on July 29, directed by renowned artist Aruna Haider, Founder of Shukanya Nrittangan, promises to be a mesmerising display of freeform dance.

SFF 2023 has successfully brought together over 300 local artists representing diverse backgrounds and cultures. Each artist's performance style will be a reflection of their cultural heritage, adding a beautiful tapestry of traditions to the festival.

Beyond the musical performances, SFF 2023 offers a host of different attractions, like witnessing the artistic prowess of 12 Bangladeshi artists as they create live portraits, delve into the region's rich history and cultural heritage through the Scarborough History Museum, and engage with wildlife wonder as the Toronto Zoo hosts thrilling wildlife shows and interactive games.

Parampara Canada, a non-profit organisation based in Scarborough, has been working tirelessly to strengthen community bonds and well-being through culturally significant events and artistic productions.

This year's SFF 2023 has partnered with Scarborough Health Network (SHN) to support their "Love Scarborough" campaign, reinforcing the message of love, unity, and acceptance.
