Bangladeshi vessel capsizes in Hooghly river
A Bangladeshi vessel today capsized in Hooghly river in Purba Medinipur district of India’s West Bengal.
The vessel capsized as it collided with another vessel after its engine broke down amid strong currents in the river in Hariballavpur area, reports our Kolkata correspondent quoting crew members.
The vessel was carrying ash from Budge Budge of South 24 Parganas district to Bangladesh via Namkhana.
Fishermen in Indian fishing boats in the vicinity rescued all the 10 crew members of the vessel as it started sinking, they said.
The rescued crew members were given primary treatment and are now at a guesthouse in Mahishadal.
