Feni land office torched, UP chairman held
Miscreants set fire to a land office in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni early today.
Police detained Rabiul Haque Chowdhury, chairman of Radhanagar union parishad and BNP general secretary of the union unit, suspecting his involvement with the arson attack, said Md Rashed Khan Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Chhagalnaiya Police Station.
The incident happened at 3:30am when miscreants set fire to the tin-shed building at the union, burning down the entire office along with various important land related papers, reports our Feni correspondent quoting local UNO Kazi Shahidul Islam.
The detained UP Chairman has been taken to the police station for further investigation, the OC said.
The incident came on the last day of the BNP-led 20-party alliance's 120 hour hartal which was called demanding fresh national polls under a non-party administration and protesting the killing of opposition leaders and activists in the name of crossfire and for the filing of false cases against alliance leaders.
