Most wanted criminal Mollah Masud held in West Bengal
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police in West Bengal has arrested Mollah Masud, a most wanted criminal in Bangladesh.
Interpol's New Delhi office has confirmed the arrest to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the police headquarters said in a press release this evening.
The police said the arrestee is accused in several cases filed with Ramna Police Station in Dhaka.
The procedure to bring him back from India is underway, said the press release.
Masud, who had been hiding in India since 2004, was on the Interpol red notice.
Masud was the second-in-command of Maghbazar-based seven-star group led by Subrata Bain. He came to limelight in the underworld after he allegedly killed several people in the capital from 1992-93.
