14-party endorses AL candidates in Gazipur, Khulna

The ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance today extended their support to the mayoral aspirants who got AL tickets for Gazipur and Khulna city corporation elections scheduled for May 15.

The decision came at a meeting of the alliance at AL president’s Dhanmondi office with the ruling party’s Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim in the chair.

AL nominated Talukder Abdul Khaleque in Khulna and Jahangir Alam in Gazipur as its mayoral candidates for the upcoming city corporation elections.

The meeting also decided that alliance partner JatiyaSamajtantrik Dal’s (JSD) mayor candidate in Gazipur Rashedul Hasan Rana will withdraw his candidacy and support AL candidate Jahangir.

The meeting also discussed about the councillor candidates of two city corporations and decided to resolve the matter locally.

Nasim, also spokesperson of the 14-party alliance, briefed the media about the outcome of the meeting.
