2 cops hurt in Paltan crude bomb blasts

Two policemen were injured as alleged pro-hartal picketers hurled several crude bombs at Dainik Bangla intersection in Paltan of Dhaka this evening.
Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Nazmul Islam, 40, and Constable Kamrul Islam of Paltan Police Station were hurt when 4 to 5 cocktails were blasted in the area around 8:00pm, ASI Sentu Das of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp told The Daily Star.
The attack took place hours after announcement of a fresh spell of 72-hour countrywide hartal (shutdown) enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
ASI Nazmul, with head injuries, and Kamrul were first taken to Rajarbagh Police Line hospital but later they were shifted to DMCH, the police official said.
