AL in favour of EVM in the next JS polls: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today urged the Election Commission to use the electronic voting machine (EVM) in the next general election, considering multiple advantages of the modern system.
“We think, the electronic voting machine is a modern system. There is no possibility of making mistake in the next general election by using the technology,” Quader said this while addressing a programme in Dhaka this noon.
However the AL leader said the Election Commission will take its own decision whether it would use the system in the next general election.
“But, our political stance is in favour of using the electronic voting machine,” Quader also road transport and bridges minister said.
Claiming that polls results will be accurate and impartial if the EVM is used in the election, Quader said BNP is engaged in making criticism against the system without knowing.
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Information and Communication Technology Adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has proposed that the EVM system will have to use in the next general election, Quader said.
“We have extended our support to his (Joy) proposal,” he said.
Nothing new in BNP’s vision 203
About BNP’s vision 2030, he said, “There is nothing new the vision. It has been done following our vision 2021 and 2041.”
“There is no clear message about communal extremism and militancy in the vision 2030. It means proponents of such social menace,” he added.
No existence of supportive government
Claiming that there is no any hint about the election time supportive government in the constitution, Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will run the country during the next general election.
The election will be held under the supervision the election commission instead of the government, he added.
Public administrations including police will be active under the supervision of the election commission, Quader said.
