I don't see any necessity for dialogue: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today rejected outright BNP's demand for dialogue to solve the impasse over the election-time government asking the party to follow the constitution.

"Why the dialogue is needed? I don't see any necessity for the dialogue. Election will be held according to the path shown by the constitution," Quader said responding to the BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s call for holding a dialogue.

Quader was addressing a press conference at the party chief Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi office in Dhaka this afternoon.

Earlier in the day, Fakhrul said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should take an initiative for holding dialogue with all stakeholders if she sincerely thinks any new thing about the election time government.

Responding to the call, Quader said taking part in the election is BNP's political rights instead of opportunity.

"Will they (BNP) participate in the election by the grace of the government? Why will they sit for the dialogue?" Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said.

Recalling the arson attacks by the BNP-Jamaat clique during the last general election, Quader warned that people will pay a fitting reply to the party on the street if it again unleashes such attack in the name of movement.

The people will not allow the party to create any stalemate, Quader said, adding that the BNP will have to pay more for its previous arson attacks.
