Quader tells BNP to carry out indoor movement
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today suggested BNP to carry out their movement indoors and not to bring it out on the streets and cause public suffering.
"BNP is taking its peaceful movement towards conflict. They should continue movement indoors to avert public suffering," Quader said when BNP accused the ruling quarter of provocation.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, was addressing a programme at Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh in Dhaka.
After BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia landing in jail, BNP has been saying that they would free their party chief from jail through waging movement in peaceful manner.
However, several Awami League leaders including Quader said that BNP does not have any strength to go for a tough movement to realise their demand.
In this context, police yesterday allegedly used water cannons and charged batons on the BNP men and foiled their black-flag demonstration, arranged in protest to police’s denial to allow a rally in Dhaka.
Following the incident, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the government was pushing his party to go for a violent programme by launching attack without any instigation.
Responding to it, Quader said: "You are taking your peaceful programme towards a conflicting situation. No one creates any hindrance on the way of your peaceful programme."
The Awmi League leader also blasted BNP as they staged a demonstration blocking roads and occupying footpaths for several hours that created huge public suffering yesterday.
"If you want to continue peaceful movement then arrange it inside room or your office. Why you took to the street creating public suffering"? Quader said.
Quader also reminded Fakhrul about the violent movement that carried out by BNP in 2014 and 2015 and said, "You (Fakhrul) are preparing a ground in the name of peaceful movement. Is it called a peaceful movement"?
