Election roadmap a blueprint to bring AL in power: BNP

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the Election Commission has announced a “blueprint to bring Awami League again in the power”.

“The roadmap is an introduction of Awami League’s blueprint to cling onto power again,” Fakhrul said while addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this noon.

He criticised the chief election commissioner for his “failure to create a level playing field” for political parties before announcing the roadmap for the next general election.

Fakhrul said the countrymen believe that no fair and credible election is possible under the ruling party management while the chief election commissioner has stated that it is possible.

Such type of statement is similar to the remarks of the prime minister, minister and other ruling party lawmakers, the BNP leader said.

Fakhrul said the roadmap is a part of conspiracy as it has been announced without resolving the issue of polls-time supportive government.

“It is nothing but an effort to reestablish one party rule in the country in a planned way,” he said.
