Bangladesh’s interests ignored: Fakhrul
Government has ignored national interest in striking a repatriation deal with Myanmar on Rohingya issue, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today.
“The government has sold out our national interest by signing an agreement with Myanmar in the name of repatriating Rohingyas,” Fakhrul alleged in a programme.
The BNP leader also blasted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her “claims” that the Rohingya repatriation agreement is an achievement of her government’s diplomatic efforts.
“You have reached an agreement giving up your own interest. Where is the pressure? What is the fact? It is clear that the government has no sense of self respect and dignity,” he added.
Fakhrul said all activities of the government are being recorded and those documentations will be made public at an “appropriate time”.
“Where and how the public money is being laundered off and where a Begum Palli is being built, we, the people know everything. All will be unveiled at right time,” he added.
Jatiyatabadi Sechhasebak Dal, voluntary wing of BNP organised the discussion marking the 53rd birth anniversary of BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman.
