Continue movement, Khaleda asks BNP men
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has instructed the party leaders to continue the ongoing “peaceful” movement ignoring any type of instigation from any quarter, party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today.
“We have been asked to continue the peaceful movement until her (Khaleda Zia) release from jail,”Fakhrul told reporters after meeting with the party chief Khaleda Zia at the Old Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road in Dhaka this afternoon.
Khaleda Zia landed to jail after a special court on February 8 sentenced her to five-year jail in connection with Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
BNP has been carrying out different countrywide protest programmes demanding unconditional immediate release of the party chairperson from the jail.
“Her (Khaleda) mental strength is so much high. She is enduring all obstacles on her way with courage. She is worried about future of the country though she is in jail now,” Fakhrul said.
About health condition of Khaleda Zia, he said she is well enough and remains firm to sacrifice anything to reinstate democracy in the country.
A 10-member delegation of BNP entered the jail around 3:00pm, met Khaleda for the first time and discussed the progress of her legal battle.
