BNP wants to bear Khaleda’s treatment cost at United Hospital
BNP will bear all expenses required for better treatment of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia at private United Hospital, party's Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said today.
"Shift Khaleda Zia to the United Hospital in the city's Gulshan area without any delay. We will bear all expenses required for her treatment," Mosharraf called upon the government while addressing a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.
While talking to reporters at his office yesterday, Inspector General of Prison Brig Gen Syed Iftekhar Uddin said that Khaleda could be treated at the private hospital if the government allowed it, but a decision was needed on who would bear the cost of the treatment there.
Mosharraf blamed the government for pushing Khaleda Zia at the verge of life threat without ensuring her proper treatment.
"We are telling very clearly that the consequence for the government will not be good if Khaleda Zia is denied of better treatment on politics of vengeance," Mosharraf warned.
Mosharraf accused the government of drowning “evil designs” to prolong Khaleda Zia's release from jail and urged it to stop such “plot” so that she gets bail and treatment based on her own choice.
"Khaleda Zia has fallen seriously ill as the government has not taken adequate measures for her treatment yet. We are very concern over the government's inaction," he said.
After visiting Khaleda Zia in jail on Saturday, FM Siddique, who was among the 4-member personal physicians, told newsmen in front of the jail gate that Khaleda Zia suddenly fell down on 5 April and she might have suffered a mild stroke.
Since then, BNP has been demanding that Khaleda Zia be admitted to United Hospitla for her treatment.
Already, the family of Khaleda Zia sent a letter to the home minister seeking the ministry's permission for her treatment at the United Hospital.
Shamim Iskander, younger brother of Khaleda Zia, submitted the letter to the home ministry today, mentioning in the letter that all the expenses of her treatment will be borne by him.
