Civil society platform Nagorik Oikya today called out for a unity of the civil society towards a participatory parliamentary election.
Mahmudur Rahman Manna, convener of Nagarik Oikya, placed the call during a seminar on corruption at Jatiya Press Club this morning.
But the “fascist government” is not letting the civil society to unite, Manna said. He termed the “staged election” by the incumbent government as its “biggest corruption”.
Barrister Moinul Hosein, former caretaker government adviser M Hafizuddin Khan, Professor Anu Muhammad, Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury, Prof Asif Nazrul and Former Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed were among those present at the seminar.
The Nagarik Oikya convener also demanded revelations regarding the forced disappearances and cross fires during his speech. “We want to know under whose instructions do the forced disappearances and cross fires happen” Manna said.
Speaking in regard to BNP’s politics, he said that “BNP has exhausted all its arsenal which has compelled them to walk the path of a peaceful protest”.
