Graft case: HC to hear Khaleda’s pleas tomorrow
The High Court today fixed tomorrow (Wednesday) for hearing two petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia challenging a lower court order that had rejected her two applications in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.
One application was filed for re-cross examination of the investigation officer of the case while another for scrutinising the case diary of the investigation officer in the case.
The HC bench of Justice Miftah Uddin Chowdhury and Justice Khijir Ahmed Chowdhury set the date after Khaleda’s lawyer AJ Mohammad Ali prayed for hearing the petitions today.
Earlier on Sunday, a Dhaka court rejected the applications of the BNP chief after her lawyers submitted those before the court at Bakshibazar in presence of Khaleda.
On April 7, the HC cleared the way for a lower court to continue the trial proceedings after rejecting Khaleda's petition.
Other accused in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission on August 8, 2011 are Harris Chowdhury, Khaleda's former political secretary, Ziaul Islam Munna, assistant private secretary of Harris, and Monirul Islam Khan, APS of former mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka. Of them, Harris is on the run.
