Movement for polls under neutral govt: Moudud
BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed today spoke of waging a movement “at an appropriate time” for the party’s demand of election under a neutral government.
“Awami League will not walk the path of compromise. One and only alternative is to take to the streets. We will have to force the government to hold the next election under a neutral government through a mass movement at appropriate time,” Moudud said.
Moudud, also a former law minister, came up with the statement while addressing a discussion organised by Citizen Rights Movement Forum at National Press Club in Dhaka this noon.
Claiming that his party still wants to cooperate, but the ruling Awami League has to do the same, Moudud said Awami League wants conflict.
BNP must participate in the next general election, but it must be held under a neutral government not under the current government, Moudud said.
“We must participate in the next general election and we are taking all preparation to join the polls under a neutral government,” he added.
