AL men rally for nominating Liton in M'singh-3
Activists of a local Awami League leader today rallied in Mymensingh’s Gouripur with demands of fresh nomination of the party.
Our local correspondent reports, followers of Samiul Alam Liton formed a human chain at Kaltapara area beside Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway this morning.
Later they also brought out a protest procession in the area.
Awami League has awarded incumbent lawmaker Nazim Uddin Ahmed as its candidate from this constituency for the upcoming elections.
Liton, organising secretary of district unit AL, who submitted nomination as a dissident candidate, told The Daily Star the protests are “logical”.
However, he also added that he “will follow the party’s decision”.
Contacted, running lawmaker Nazim Uddin Ahmed told The Daily Star such protest goes against the party’s central decision.
“The party nominated me after grass-root level survey,” said Nazim Uddin.
