BCL Leader handcuffed for an hour for illegally entering polling centre in Bogura
Police today handcuffed a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Bogura district unit for an hour as he illegally entered a polling centre at Bogura College during today's fifth phase of municipality elections.
Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam, the on-duty police officer of the polling centre handcuffed Mukul Islam, publicity secretary of Bogura district unit BCL, and kept him like that for an hour in the presiding officer's room.
The police official said the BCL leader tried to enter the polling centre illegally and misbehaved with the on-duty police personnel when they asked him not to do any such thing.
He was released an hour later, added the SI.
BCL leader Mukul, however, claimed that SI Rafiqul and two other constables barred him from entering the polling centre when he went there to give lunch to polling agents.
He claimed that the policemen beat him up and dragged him to the presiding officer's room and kept him handcuffed for an hour.
