BNP candidate boycotts municipality election in Jhenaidah

BNP-backed candidate in Jhenaidah's Maheshpur municipality election boycotted the polls, alleging vote-rigging and removal of his agents from polling centers.

BNP nominated candidate Amirul Islam Khan Chunnu announced his decision at a press conference held at the upazila BNP office at 1:00pm today, reports our local correspondent quoting the candidate.

However, Md Rokanuzzaman, district election officer and the returning officer of the election, claimed that the municipality election is being held in a free and fair manner.
