'Lesson in winning election': Chuadanga AL mayor candidate show-caused

A show-cause notice has been issued against Awami League mayor candidate Hasan Qadir as a party leader, in his presence, taught fellow party leaders and activists "a trick" to win the Alamdanga municipality mayoral polls.

Returning Officer and District Election Officer Tarek Ahmed issued the notice last night, asking Qadir to reply within working hours today.

Qadir confirmed that he received the notice, reports our Kushtia correspondent. 

The notice said at a meeting, which was organised taking Qadir's permission, Delwar Hossain, president of municipality AL unit, asked the party men to cast votes before the election starts on February 14.

Qadir's presence on the dais was confirmed through video clips and media reports.

Organising such meeting and rally before the election is tantamount to violation of election code, the notice said.

If Qadir fails to place his explanation today, legal action will be taken against him, the notice said.
