People pay last respect to Moudud before burial
The second namaz-e-janaza of BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed was held on the Supreme Court premises this morning.
It was held around 10:00am after his body was brought from the Central Shaheed Minar.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, judges of Appellate and High Court divisions, political leaders and scores of lawyers took part in the janaza.
Earlier this morning, his body reached Central Shaheed Minar around 9:00am where thousands of people, including political figures paid homage to him.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Gonoshasthaya Kendra Founder and Trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Convener of Nagarik Oikya and Oikyafront Mahmudur Rahman Manna and many others paid their last tributes to the veteran politician at the Shaheed Miner.
Moudud's third funeral prayer was held around 11:00am in front of BNP's Naya Paltan Central Office where party leaders and activists paid homage to the deceased.
Later today, Moudud's body will be flown to Noakhali where his fourth janaza will be held at Kabirhat Degree College field around 2:30pm.
Moudud's body will be taken to his village home in Companiganj Upazila from there.
He will be buried at his family graveyard in Companiganj's Manikpur area around 5:30 pm after his final janaza at Bashurhat Government Mujib College around 4pm.
Moudud Ahmed's first janaza was held in Singapore. His body arrived in Dhaka yesterday from Singapore on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
