Moudud’s body to be brought back home tomorrow
The body of BNP standing committee member and noted lawyer Moudud Ahmed will be brought back home from Singapore tomorrow (Thursday) evening.
"All necessary processes and formalities have been completed to bring back sir's (Moudud's) body to the country from Singapore by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines," said Moudud's personal assistant Mominur Rahman Sujon.
A flight of Biman carrying Moudud's mortal remains is scheduled to leave Singapore at 3:50pm tomorrow, he said.
Upon arrival of the body, Sujon said it will be taken to the mortuary of United Hospital.
Moudud's first namaz-e-janaza will be held on the High Court premises at 10:00am on Friday while the second one in front of BNP's Nayapaltan central office at 11:00am.
Another janaza for the former six-times MP may be held at the South Plaza of Parliament subject to the Speaker's permission.
Later, Moudud's body will be taken to his village home in Noakhali's Companiganj upazila.
He will be buried at his family graveyard after his final janaza at Bashurhat Government Mujib College after Asr prayers.
BNP'S MOURNING THURSDAY
BNP will observe a mourning day tomorrow over the death of Moudud.
Party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the announcement at a press conference at BNP's Nayapaltan central office today.
He said their party will hoist black flag at its party offices across the country while their party flag will be kept at half-mast on the mourning day.
Moudud Ahmed died at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore around 6:30pm yesterday at the age of 81.
