Mushtaq’s death in custody: Swechchhasebak Dal holds rally in front of Press Club

Jatiya Swechchhasebak Dal today held a rally protesting the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in jail custody, and the killing of journalist Borhan Uddin Mujakkir.

Around 200 party leaders and activists, including BNP National Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, started the rally in front of National Press Club around 10:30am and continued till 12:00pm.

At the rally, they demanded proper investigation and the highest punishment of those involved with the deaths.

They also called upon the government to immediately scrap the Digital Security Act.

Additional police were seen deployed at different points in the areas centring the rally.

Journalist Borhan Uddin was killed during a clash in Noakhali's Companyganj upazila on February 19.

On February 25, Mushtaq died after he was transferred to a hospital for treatment from Kashimpur jail.
