Prove ability on street: Quader to BNP
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today slammed BNP for its frequent warning of waging anti-government movement and called upon it to prove the ability on the streets.
“We are perceiving repeatation of the old saga of the movement. Show the dare and ability if you (BNP) have,” Quader said this while talking to journalists at party President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office in Dhaka.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, at a pregramme, has recently warned of strengthening anti-government movement to retrieve democracy and ensure immediate release of party’s imprisoned Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Rejecting the threat, Quader also road transport and bridges minister, said they (BNP) did not become able to wage any movement on the street for at least 10 munities in the last 10 years.
Fakhrul secured victory in the December 30 national election from Bogura-6 parliamentary constituency, but denied taking oath as a lawmaker, Quader said. “Is it called democracy? It is ridiculous democracy,” Quader said.
