Quader Mirza claims motorcade attacked in Feni; blames Noakhali MP Ekramul Karim, 2 others
The motorcade of Abdul Quader Mirza, the newly elected mayor of Noakhali's Basurhat municipality, allegedly came under attack in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni this morning.
Md Selim (50), Awami League president of Basurhat municipality ward unit, was injured in the attack, Md Imtiaj Ahmad, officer-in-charge of Daganbhuiyan Police Station, quoted Quader Mirza.
The alleged attack happened around 6:30am when the motorcade reached Zero Point area of Daganbhuiyan sadar.
The younger brother of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was going to Chattogram for swearing in as mayor when the incident happened, Quader Mirza claimed.
A gang of miscreants attacked the motorcade with brick-bats and sticks. They also threw eggs targeting the windshields of the cars, he claimed.
Daganbhuiyan OC said he has received verbal complaints about the incident. "Steps will be taken following a formal complaint," he added.
Quader Mirza blamed Noakhali MP Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Feni MP Nizam Uddin Hajari and Daganbhuiyan Upazila Chairman Didarul Kabir for the attack.
"I will take legal steps against these three after swearing in as mayor," he added.
