Vandalism case: Charges pressed against BNP leader Pintu
A Tangail court today framed charge against BNP leader Abdus Salam Pintu and 10 others in connection with a vandalism case filed with Bhuapur Police Station in Tangail in 2012.
Salam Pintu, who was given death sentence in connection with the August 21 grenade attack case, was taken to Tangail District Jail yesterday from Kashimpur jail and produced him before it this noon.
Pintu's lawyers submitted a prayer before the court seeking acquittal of his client from the charge, but Judicial Magistrate Naorin Mahbuba, rejected the prayer and ordered to frame a charge against Pintu and 10 others in this connection.
Local Awami League leader Jahidul Islam Bhuiyan Lebu filed the case in 2012 accusing them of vandalising his house on October 1, 2001.
Former deputy minister of BNP-led four-party government Abdus Salam Pintu, has been behind bar since January 3, 2008 after his arrest in connection with his involvement in the case filed for August 21 grenade attack incident.
