The ruling party lawmakers responsible for public sufferings will not get nomination for the next general election, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said at a meeting in New York today (BST).
Seeking vote from the US expatriates, the finance minister said Awami League already has started its election campaign.
He hoped that his party will be able to retain power as it was able to conduct development activities in the country, our staff correspondent reports from New York.
Muhith was holding a meeting with a delegation of America-Bangladesh Business Alliance at Jackson Heights, well known for a large number of Bangladeshis living in the neighbourhood, on Monday evening (US time).
Master plans for haors
About the current flash-flood in the country's northeastern districts, Muhith said the government has taken a master plan to save lives and property in the haor areas.
MDG condition not fulfilled
The minister said Bangladesh failed to get millennium development goal fund as it could not fulfill the conditions.
Bangladesh spends only two percent of the total national income where as a country eligible for the fund should spend six percent in the sector, he said.
