BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today came down hard on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina saying that she expressed her self-satisfaction after sending Khaleda Zia to jail in a “politically motivated case”.

"Prime Minister yesterday said where she (Khaleda) is today. The prime minister expressed her superiority by saying this. It seems, she felt a sense of self-satisfaction over the judgment," Rizvi said at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this noon.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a public rally in Barisal yesterday, said, “Where is she [Khaleda] today? The Throne of Almighty Allah gets shaken when one carries out repression against people. Those who burnt people to death face such consequences. And that justice is being done.”

The premier came up with the remarks hours after the special court in Dhaka sentenced Khaleda to five years in jail in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

"It is nothing but an outcome of politics of vengeance and Sheikh Hasina has met her desire through the judgment to keep Khaleda Zia out of the election process," Rizvi said.

Citing acts of repression and oppression on BNP men centering the court verdict, Rizvi said the prime minister has unleashed a reign of terror in across the country.

"She (PM) has announced war against Khaleda Zia, her family members and BNP men to face the upcoming general election without any hindrance," Rizvi said.
