Quader hopes India to stand by Bangladesh over Rohingya issue
Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today expressed his hope that neighbouring country India will stand by Bangladesh over the Rohingya issue.
"Different countries across the world expressed concern over the Rohingya issue. India also did that. We want the neighbouring country will support Bangladesh which is very important for us at this moment," he told newsmen while visiting the activities of mobile court of BRTA at Manik Miah Avenue in Dhaka.
The minister said India stood beside Bangladesh during the Liberation War.
"We hope India will favour Bangladesh in this humanitarian crisis too," he added.
Quader said as many as three lakh Rohingya people have entered Bangladesh.
He sought cooperation from all to help the government to cope with the influx of Rohingya people.
"When the United Nations is praising the government's role in handling the Rohingya people, a political party (BNP) is criticising it," he added.
He said the people from all over the country are anxious over the Rohingya issue but BNP is happy as they get an issue for their ill political will.
