Syed Ashraful Islam met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina this evening, hours after his appointment as the public administration minister.

It was his fourth meeting with the premier since his removal from the LGRD ministry last week.

Sources at Gono Bhaban said Ashraf, who is also general secretary of the ruling Awami League, entered the prime minister’s official residence after iftar.

The premier today gave Ashraf the portfolio of the public administration ministry. A gazette notification was issued in this regard.

There has been much talk about the removal of Syed Ashraf, believed to be a trusted person to Sheikh Hasina. However, none of the lawmakers or party men said anything out publicly.

The only thing that Ashraf said related to his initial removal was at the time when he pulled reference to his father and asserted that the blood that flowed in his veins was that of loyalty.
