Youths beat up 2 polling agents
Two polling agents were beaten by unruly youths and police as they protested against vote rigging allegedly by Awami League candidates at Kamalapur in Dhaka this morning.
The voters including BNP supporters broke and destroyed ballot boxes in the center and also set them on fire when they came to know about the vote rigging, , our correspondent reports from the spot.
A group of youths allegedly entered all the five booths in polling centre No. 151 at Kamalapur Sher-e-Bangla Railway High School around 11:45am and continuous put seal on ballot papers in favour of the electoral symbol of 'top' (latim) and Mach (Fish) of two AL-backed candidates.
When the two polling agents protested, they beat up and handed them over to the law enforcers, our correspondent reports from the spot.
The law enforcers took them to the returning officer, who later asked police to release them, the reporters said.
Following the voters outrage, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel reached the spot to bring the situation under control.
