Fire kills 3 Rohingya refugees near Kutupalong camp in Cox's Bazar
Three Rohingya refugees were burnt to death today in a fire that gutted eight shops at the bazar near the Kutupalong camp in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar.
The deceased were identified as Arman Ullah, Faridul Alam, and Mohammad Ayaz, all employees of a grocery shop, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting an official of Ukhiya Fire Service Station.
The fire started around 2:30 am and was doused at 8:30 am today. The cause of the fire could not be known yet, said Imdadul Haque, station officer of Ukhiya Fire Service Station.
"Three Rohingya youths were sleeping inside the shop when the fire broke out. None of them could get out of the store in time," said Helal Uddin, a local UP member.
"Apart from the deceased, several others were injured in the fire. They were admitted to a field hospital of an NGO," said Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ahmed Sanjur Morshed.
