Everyone shouting at work after senior overused caps lock during WFH
A workplace in Dhaka has become a public nuisance as all employees shout at each other throughout the workday.
Employees of Silent Night Inc, which produces nightlights, ended their long coronavirus-induced work-from-home (WFH) stint recently, and it seems their isolations and continued exposure to their Discord work channel have left them unfit for face-to-face interactions.
"I think it all started with one of our seniors, used to barking orders before WFH, using all caps to convey anything he thought that was important. But not everything was important. Don't tell him I said that last bit," said an employee who gave her name at first, but then withdrew it fearing consequences.
"Slowly, over the long WFH period, everyone just started to notice only texts that were in all caps. Nothing else registered. Slowly but surely, we associated texts written in all caps with this particular senior screaming, as he always did when we went to office.
"When we returned to work, we found that everyone was screaming."
This Satireday correspondent got hold of the senior, who very much wanted to be named.
Manik Chillay said, "This is something I developed years ago. You see, actually doing work is not important. What really matters is visibility, and audibility. I have become a senior by doing this, by catching the ears and eyes of my boss. Very soon, you will hear people shouting thanks to me for my guidance."
